Food—its cultivation, preparation, and consumption—has always been central to the way of life in Italy and Croatia. Olive groves, orchards, and vineyards; meticulously crafted healthful meals; leisurely and convivial tables—these are the very core of southern European culture. In August 2017, restaurateur and food studies expert David Corsun will lead a voyage along the Tyrrhenian and Adriatic Seas, exploring in detail the region’s richly textured approach to food and dining.

This one-of-a-kind gourmet odyssey is an extraordinary opportunity both to study and experience the various roles food plays in our lives and its relation to physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. In addition to enriching lectures by Professor Corsun, Director of the Fritz Knoebel School of Hospitality Management in the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver, great chefs will take over the kitchens of Le Lyrial and share their passions and talent at a gala dinner and via onboard cooking demonstrations. Some of the best sommeliers will also be present for tasting sessions and conferences.

Recognized for their extraordinary beauty and fertility since the time of the ancient Greeks and Romans, the Amalfi coast, Sicily, and Dalmatia are the perfect setting for our culinary adventure. The idyllic islands, the small, well-preserved medieval towns lining the sea, the eloquent monuments, the palm-lined promenades—all have retained their authentic character. Sailing through this magnificent corner of the Mediterranean, with ample time to explore the islands and coastal towns, is one of the most delightful travel experiences in the world.

Our home for this voyage will be the elegant new Le Lyrial.
